As body image Mentor, if you were to offer two tools to use to build a beautiful , magical holiday season this year , support and management.
Tip # 1 = assistance, support and more support. Do you have the picture? Remember, you are building a new holiday experience - one where the food will not be a double agent - rated comfort and shelter, but basically offers only guilt, shame and guilt.
Its new building needs strong support . A long list of travelers just like you who will listen , laugh and help you through difficult times is necessary. If you can literally put one of these people with you to events and places that feel more like combat zones " at home " , that would be great . If this is not possible , maybe there is a person in your house that makes support. Make it your oasis. Do not focus on those with whom they must "work " for approval or love. Stick to your support person, no matter what.
Before the holidays even begin , start talking about their fears and difficulties with others who walk the same path. Finally, do not forget that there is an endless stream of love and a solid foundation to face our planet through our universe, through every cell of your body. You are a precious child of this life force, and all the support you need is this if you feel isolated , or even abandoned in difficult enemy territory .
Planning Tip # 2 = Well, this is where the real work begins . First, plan your food. PLANNING IS POWER. Call ahead , ask what will be served . Bring something to feel good about eating what is your plan in case something at the party or event that works for you. You are not a victim of anything you want to do, or where you choose to go. Do not put yourself at risk to binge , purge or starve . This is the most fundamental action and self-esteem can embrace .
Then you need an escape and get- out-of door - jail free card , even if it's just for a few minutes. ( An exit strategy is to love your highest course goal). Have equipment or vehicle rescue at hand . Remember, a person may disappoint you but a bunch , so now we're talking !
At least , please get out of an uncomfortable situation and call someone you feel safe to talk . Keep calling people to reach someone at the other end of the phone. People want to connect with other people and often help us the person you are calling as they help us . Go to a quiet cafe nearby shelters withdraw if things get crazy. You can always retire to a quiet room (I was called out in bathrooms or closets , a quiet space where I can get ) , and pray or read some statements centering or a spiritual book . Remember that the food of the soul is what will sustain and nourish you .
These are the basics . They are nothing more than basic . They are the absolute minimum that we should all consider and accomplish if we really want to enjoy the holidays for 2008. And why not? Earth rotates, and we will not see these days again. Filling our hands with these tools, we will find the power to keep food in the right place . A place to live healthy. To supply us with a beautiful day for the other, the creation of a life of parties and celebrations , tied with golden son of self-love , self- care , service and fellowship.
